They store electricity in a rechargeable battery that powers an electric motor, which spins the wheels. Electric cars run faster than vehicles with conventional fuel engines – so they feel lighter to drive. The electric motor receives energy from a controller, which controls the amount of power based on the driver's use of the accelerator pedal. Electric cars (also known as electric vehicles or EVs) use energy stored in their rechargeable batteries, which are recharged by common household electricity. Main components of an Electric car: 1) Traction Battery Pack: An electric-vehicle battery (also known as a traction battery) is used to power an electric vehicle's motors. These batteries are usually rechargeable (secondary) and are usually lithium-ion batteries. 2) Power Inverter: An inverter converts DC electricity from sources such as batteries or fuel cells into AC electricity. Power can be at any required voltage; Specifically, it can operate AC equipment designed for mains operation or can be rectified to produce DC at the desired voltage. 3) Electric Motor: The DC motor works because, simply put, when a current is passed through the motor circuit, there is a reaction between the current in the field and the current in the armature, which causes the armature to turn. The armature and the field are connected in series, and the whole motor is referred to as a "series wound." 4) Controller: The controller's main function is to regulate electrical energy from batteries and inverters that will be distributed to electric motors. The main input to the controller is from the car's pedal. This pedal setting will determine the frequency variation or voltage variation that will enter the motor and, at the same time, determine the speed of the car. 5) DC/DC Converter: This is one of the electric car parts that convert high-voltage DC power from the traction battery pack to low-voltage DC power to drive the vehicle's accessories and recharge the auxiliary battery. Necessary for. 6) Charging port: The charge port allows the vehicle to be connected to an external power supply to charge the traction battery pack. Which makes it a strong contender. Background It's almost forgotten now that Nissan were amongst the innovators in the field of electric vans. Think of a trend-setting small full-battery-powered LCV and it's the Renault Kangoo Z.E. of 2011 that tends to spring to mind. But Renault's partner Nissan used the same drivetrain in an e-NV200 model that appeared shortly afterwards and sold spectacularly for the Japanese brand. That model's replacement was this contender, Nissan's Townstar EV, a far more modern and usable take on what a small electric van should be. Like its predecessor, it shares all its drive technology with the electric Renault Kangoo, but this time round, that technology allows for a far greater driving range, swifter performance and faster charging. Used EV prices are falling. Studies show that used EV prices fell somewhere around 30 percent in September and October 2023 from the same period in 2022. Used overall vehicle prices including ICE, hybrid and EVs declined by only around 5 percent. It bodes well for buyers, but some say it is yet another sign demand is faltering and that consumers may see EVs as a bad investment. Others say those fears are overblown. An electric car motor uses a current to create a magnetic field at the fixed part of the machine, called the stator, whose displacement sets in motion of a rotating part (called the “rotor”). Understanding how an electric motor work is pretty simple. Here’s a simplified explanation of how a car's four-pole three-phase AC induction motor works. It starts with the battery in the car that is connected to the motor. Electrical energy is supplied to the stator by the car’s battery. The coils within the stator (made from the conducting wire) are arranged on opposite sides of the stator core and act as magnets. Therefore, when the electrical energy from the car battery is supplied to the motor, the coils create rotating magnetic fields that pull the conducting rods on the outside of the rotor behind it. The spinning rotor creates the mechanical energy needed to turn the car gears, which, in turn, rotates the tires. Various types of Electric Motors are 1. Brushed DC Motor 2. Brushless DC Motor 3. Types of Powertrains in EV: According to the number of motors used in vehicle and their configuration, existing powertrain EVs can be classified into two types: the centralized single motor-driven powertrain and the distributed multi-motor driven powertrain. The centralized motor single motor speed-driven powertrain is the most common structure in modern EVs. Some EVs focused on the distributed multi-motor is driven powertrains.
